Harvest time: spring 2017

Growing Region: Doi Mae Salong, Chiang Rai province, northern Thailand. 1400 meters.

Appearance: Hight mountain oolong, tightly wrapped into semi-spherical shape, lightly roasted, lightly fermented, picked by hands.

From the first appearance Jin Xuan oolong has become gaining wide popularity among both manufacturers of tea and tea consumers. It can be grown at higher attitudes and yields about 20% more then traditional tea variates. Its growth rate, sometimes, can be 30% -50% higher than the growth rate of more traditional Qing Shin Oolong (Chin-Shin Oolong). And its unique "creamy " flavor, sometimes resembling sugar cane in taste with a mild aroma of liquor, is especially attractive to women.

Legend: During the World War II, the Japanese invaded and colonized Taiwan. They did a lot of research on Taiwanese oolongs and field testing of different varieties. When, after the war, the Japanese left, then left behind a well-developed research institute of tea. In 1945 Taiwaneese Professor Wu continued research and tried to develop new varieties from the seedlings left by the Japanese. Thus, in 1982, " Tai Chi # 12" was officially announced as a new, unique sort of oolong with a very pleasant creamy flavor. This oolong, moreover, has better rate of growth and disease resistance. These circumstances made it become one of the most popular varieties among tea farmers in Taiwan and Thailand. Its creator, Professor Wu, has named it Jin Xuan, which means "Golden Day Lily ", in memory of his mother.
